But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly the evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape.'" (Malachi 3:15)

Passing through difficult times often makes believer's think differently. There are many whys? that arise in their minds and as we read above, the mind tends to tell our beings stories of how the arrogant are blessed, how evildoers prosper and how them who challenge God escape. But that is not the truth. None of the above categories are truly blessed. As Asaph, the Psalmist sang, "Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin. How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors! As a dream when one awakes, so when you arise, O Lord, you will despise them as fantasies." (Psalm 73:18-20)

Another thing that some believers think during suffering is....."It is futile to serve God. What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the Lord Almighty?" (Malachi 3:14)
These disturbing thoughts can be overcome by the help of the Holy Spirit of God. The Bible says, "And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us." (Romans 5:5)

God knows what suffering the righteous are going through and he will make them triumph by his strength. He says,
"They will be mine, in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.(Malachi 3:17, 18)
